Welcome to your Hometown Yoga Studio!
Yoga Farm Ithaca is a trauma-informed yoga studio, this means many things, one of which is that we generally do not do hands-on assists and adjustments. We also try our best to teach from our own mats.
Adjustments and assists can be great, and they can also be triggering. It also is an assumption made by the yoga teacher that we know what is happening inside a student’s body and experience, which we cannot actually know. If you are a big fan of adjustments and assists, you can make those requests. Some of our teachers may accommodate that, and it is up to the teacher what they feel comfortable with.
We are a global yoga school, and nonprofit organization and our specialties are Kundalini and QiGong. This means that the energy body is the primary focus during all of our classes. In a gentle class, you are likely to also experience breathwork and energetic shifts, beyond the physical layer of the body.
If you are looking for power flow yoga and “workout” focused on the physical body alone, we might not be the spot for you. Here you can expect pranayama, spirituality and whole body wellness in each class.
UPCOMING EVENTS
pride month event - write notes. touch lives
Tuesday, June 17th from 5-6:30pm
Point of Pride sends hundreds of gender-affirming support packages a month. The cards we
will write are discreetly mailed alongside these packages to trans people with barriers in accessing
healthcare. 88% of recipients are trans youth under the age of 24.
All over the world, trans folks—particularly trans youth—face challenges simply by existing in systems that
often don’t provide the support or protections for these folks to be able to not just live, but thrive.
Additionally, trans folks—particularly trans women of color—are at statistically higher risk of violence. The
last several years have been the deadliest on record for trans folks, and that’s only including the deaths
that are known. Tracking this violence is challenging because people may not be out or might be misgend
ered in obituaries.
Despite these challenges, trans folks have continued to make incredible contributions to society and become more visible every year. Thank you for joining YFI to take the time to affirm and empower the next generation.
Any proceeds will be donated to Point of Pride.
pride month event - yfi movie night
’Will & Harper’
Friday, June 27th from 7:30-9:30pm
In 2021, Will Ferrell was filming the movie Spirited when he received an email from his longtime friend, Harper Steele,
a writer he met on his first day at Saturday Night Live in 1995.
In 2023, as the documentary begins, Steele and Ferrell briefly meet up with Steele's two daughters at a restaurant before setting out on a road trip. In this intimate portrayal of friendship, transition, and America, Will Ferrell and his close friend of thirty years decide to go on a cross-country road trip to explore a new chapter in their relationship.
Join YFI for a movie night at the studio. Bring your comfy clothes and anything you need to make a little nest for yourself and snuggle in as we go on a cross-country adventure with one of America’s beloved comedians.
Harmonic Mindfulness Soundbath w/ Jacob “NTHNL” Rudin
Saturday June 28th from 4-5:30pm
Jacob “NTHNL” Rudin is a classically trained composer and pianist turned multi-flutist, producer, and
sound-healing practitioner. Having created electronic and acoustic music in a wide variety of contexts since 2012,
Jacob works in both the healing and contemporary music worlds, drawing on a rich sonic practice that involves
experimental sound design, field recording, and virtuosic performances on a wide range of instruments.
He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, where he teaches music lessons, hosts regular Soundbaths throughout the city
and gigs with his band, NTHNL.
The Harmonic Mindfulness Soundbath is an hour-long deep listening and meditation experience that is designed to deeply relax while allowing for emotional journeying and healing. The experience begins with a brief meditation on a spiritual text and grounding to the sounds in the room and within ourselves. A pre-recorded soundscape created by NTHNL, consisting of electronically generated binaural beats and field recordings of peaceful natural environments, is played to relax the mind. Over the soundscape, NTHNL will play a collection of wind instruments, soothing the listener while guiding them to ever deeper places within themselves.
